Meet the Team

Arthur – Head Physio & Co-Founder

Hi, I’m Art – I’m a qualified Physiotherapist with over 25 years experience in the NHS.

As a professional Physio I treat people on a daily basis and it’s my responsibility to make sure I give the best treatment possible, along with safe, sound, graded exercises and self-help every time.

Before becoming a Physiotherapist, I was fortunate enough to achieve a Diploma in Remedial Therapy, spending 3 years at the Joint Services Rehabilitation Unit, RAF Chessington. We had over 300 injured servicemen & women at different stages of recovery. As the therapist in charge of one of the gymnasiums, I had the responsibility of organising the patients’ weekly programmes, which involved gym exercises, individual & group sessions, games, relaxation, physiotherapy, occupational therapy and hydrotherapy.

I left school at 15 and joined the British Armed Forces; by the time I reached 18 I was playing water polo for the Army junior team as captain, the Army senior team, the combined services team (Army, Navy & Air Force), plus playing for Kent County juniors (National Champions 1969) and Kent County seniors, in addition to being selected for the England junior water polo team and achieving a place in the 1970 GB water polo squad.

Having a good eye for the ball, I later started playing squash; my idols became Jonah Barrington, Peter Hunt, Qamar Zaman and the legendary Jahangir Khan. I practiced a lot and became a strong County player, winning the Masters Kent County Championships (M55) and reaching the Quarter Finals of the British National Masters Championships in 2009.

My passion throughout all this time has been treating and helping people from all backgrounds and all walks of life, young or old, to help reduce pain, gain muscle strength to improve joint range of motion, plus giving positive and sound advice.

At ATLPhysio, we are three like-minded people; Tom, Lawrence and I that want to deliver the best possible information on injuries, how best to self-treat, follow easy exercise programmes, and enable you to get back to your lifestyle, sport or activity as quickly and as safely as possible.

Thank you for coming to our website – if you would like further information, then please just drop me a line!

Tom – Head of Digital & Co-Founder

Hi, I’m Tom! I have had a serious passion for sport, health and wellness from a very young age indeed – ever since my dad took me to my first football practice! I have always been fascinated by how the human body works and how to push myself to my limits in my terms of my own physical performance and others.

In my teenage years, I was a National Level Junior Triple Jumper, Midland Champion, multiple County Champion and club record holder for Mansfield Harriers AC; my records still standing to this day. I represented England in the first ever UK School Games (local international competition), 2006 and placed 6th in the final. In the same year, I also placed 7th in the English Schools Athletics Championships (National Championships). Having battled with hamstring injuries throughout my athletics years, I retired from further competition at only age 21, where I turned my attention to building my knowledge of the science of training, injury prevention and biomechanics. I’ve got a particular interest in the teachings of Charlie Francis – one of the world’s leading sprint coaches and expert in the science of Central Nervous System management for optimal sprinting performance.

During my time as a student athlete in my early twenties, I studied at the world renown, Loughborough University and was fortunate enough to learn from some of the world’s leading coaches, including, Peter Stanley – coach to World Record Holder, Jonathan Edwards.

Now, I’m fully committed to helping others in their journey to peak performance and health  – whether that be a seasoned athlete looking to improve their injury prevention program, or a mum of two, who is struggling with back pain in the office, at work.

On a different note, this year I was diagnosed with bladder cancer. Developing this condition so young, in my twenties was a real shock, especially coming from a background of watching everything I put in my body as an athlete in the past. However, it has also been an experience of great perspective and positivity. I want to help other people to get the best out of themselves and follow their dreams – life is more precious than any of us can imagine. I hope, during your journey through our website, that you find encouragement in times of need through our knowledge and insight.

To your health!

Lawrence – Co-Founder

Hi, I’m Lawrence – I’m super passionate about health, well-being and living life with a positive outlook to achieve the very best that’s possible!

My passion for health all started with my passion for sport. I pretty much love all sports, especially NFL (big Green Bay Packers fan – Go Pack Go!). I also love football / soccer (big Liverpool FC fan) with athletics holding a special place in my heart…I’ve been triple jumping since the age of 11 and still compete to this very day, with my proudest achievement coming in 2016 when I represented Great Britain at the Masters World Athletics Championships in Australia and won gold to become World Champion in the Triple Jump (M35).

So, through my continued training and past experiences I know first-hand how frustrating and limiting injuries can be…I’ve personally suffered from plantar fasciitis, patella tendonitis, Achilles tendonitis, torn hamstrings, torn calf muscles, slipped discs in my back, neck strains, a fractured heel, broken ankle, groin strains, and so the list goes on!

How the human body can heal fascinates me and I want to use this passion to help others with injury and pain recover. So, you see for me this is more than just a website, this is about a community – I genuinely hope we’ll help you move forward more positively than when you found us. It’s this ambition that motivated Arthur, Tom and I to launch ATLPhysio in the first place – we want to help you reduce your pain, rehabilitate and recover. We also want to save you time by finding the practical answers you need quickly…really quickly! 😊
